2. Generic Structure
- Goal: The final objective or what is going to be achieved.
- Materials/Ingredients: The items or tools required to perform the procedure.
- Steps: The sequence of actions that must be followed to complete the process.
3. Language Features
- Use of imperative sentences (commands), e.g., “Cut the paper,” “Mix the ingredients.”
- Use of action verbs such as boil, mix, turn, put.
- Use of sequence connectors like first, then, next, finally.
- Use of adverbs of manner and time to give clarity.
4. Example of Procedure Text
How to Make Fried Rice
Ingredients: rice, garlic, oil, salt, egg, soy sauce.
Steps:
- Heat the oil in a frying pan.
- Add garlic and stir until fragrant.
- Put in the rice, egg, and soy sauce.
- Stir well for about 5 minutes and serve hot.
